PM Slowing Down??

Don’t know if it’s PM (build 15451) on a MacBook Pro running 10.9.2, but since the update PM seems to be running slower, i.e. file>open contact sheet, it seems to take a lot longer for it to open the window. Maybe time for a new Mac???

Longer for the dialog to open that allows you to choose a folder, or longer once you have chosen a folder and the thumbnails start to appear?

That dialog is provided by Mac OS X.  Does that dialog open up slowly in other applications as well?  Sometimes it can take a long time to open if you've got a server volume mounted and its disks are powered down (sleep mode).  They have to power on and spin up to speed before they can be accessed.

Is there a reason you're using the Open dialog to choose a folder?  There are a number of alternatives like drag and drop from the Finder, and using PM's Favorites and Navigator.

PJ, you just might be suffering from the problem introduced with Mavericks where the file dialogues sometimes just take ages to show itself (the second time it is fast again). You will notice similar behaviour in other applications. I'm actually pretty sure this has something to do with the more aggressive power saving Mavericks is using. It's quite a pain though…
