Code replacement text is missing
« on: October 09, 2014, 06:05:28 AM »
Hello all,

I am running Photomechanic 4.6.9 and OSX 10.9.5

It seems that PM does not export the text created with code replacements when saving images.  I have created an IPTC file which, upon ingesting images, adds all the required text.

When I then add text to the Caption field (as opposed to the Headline field) and then save it, the text appears in the caption box but when I save the images out, none of this text is shown.  I have checked the file properties in a Finder window using CMD-I and the IPTC data is shown but nothing else.  I have attached screen shots of this and also the final image.

Can anyone throw any light on this error, it's driving me crazy!!!

Thanks in advance,

Dan

Check your Save As settings.  Are you possibly applying an IPTC Stationery Pad that is modifying your fields?

Hi Kirk,

Thank you for a quick reply.  I've double checked that I'm not overlaying any text.  I've replicated this error on two macs (to check it wasn't a OSX Error).  I add the text, save the image. Go back into it to check it's there, save it and it disappears.

Confused??  I am!!

Regards,

Dan

I'd like to see the original image before the data is lost and I'd like to see a screenshot of your Save As dialog settings.

Thanks,

-Kirk

Hi again,

I have solved the problem, I was re-stamping the file with IPTC data in the Save As dialog box. Because I had set up a Global IPTC setting, I was ticking the box upon saving it.  I've tried it without re-stamping and it seems fine.

Apologies for the time wasting!

Thanks again,

Dan
