Strange, wrong message at end of Ingest on Yosemite
« on: December 18, 2014, 07:00:18 AM »
I am running PM Version 5.0, build 15800 (e6ecc1c) on Yosemite 10.10.1. As each Ingest operation ends, I get a message window stating that the 'Disk cannot be ejected because it is in use'. But the flash card HAS been ejected as you can see by the absence of its icon on my desktop in the screen shot.

This is benign but strange. Are you aware of it?

That's the first I've heard of it.  We get that information from the OS itself as part of an error message returned from our call to the OS to unmount the disk.  Must be yet another bug in Apple's latest OS.

I notice that the volume Photo Repository II is selected in that screenshot.    Is that where you are Ingesting files to?

I ingested files to the Pictures folder on the internal HD and also (for backup) to a folder on the external drive named Photo Repository II. The files came from an SD card.

Thanks for the info. I'm wondering if something is trying to eject the external drive.   If you try a small test ingest where you ingest some images ONLY to the internal HD, do you still get the message about being unable to eject?

Sorry but I am on a trip away from my Yosemite machine until January 8.  I'll try to remember to try the little experiment and reply when I return.

Hi @ all!

I did a test right now:
Ingest only to internal disk, only to external disk (FireWire 800), internal disk as primary and external disk as backup, external disk as primary and internal disk as backup.
System is an iMac, Mid 2011, 21,5", 2,5 GHz Intel Core i5

The message did not show up in either ingest an the memory card ejected as it should.

Yosemite, 10.10.1, PM 5 (Build 15800)

After 5 years of absence I restarted the photography.

I had such a mistake sometimes with Mavericks, not with PM, when I ejected correctly a disk. I suspect a bug from Apple.t
