Mac launching Photo App Instead of PM on Ingest!

Ok, this is driving me crazy! I'm on a 2015 Macbook Pro running El Capitan 10.11.6 with PM 5, build 18040.

Just bought a Canon 5D MKIV. Every time I plug the CF card reader into my computer, it launches the Apple Photo program instead of PM!! I've already gone into Image Capture and configured it to launch PM upon ingest with both my Mark IV and card reader, but as soon as I reformat the CF card it goes right back to launching the Apple Photo program. For some reason, I wasn't having this problem with my MKII.

Please help!

But the short of it is that the problem is with Image Capture and not PM.  Some people delete the Photos application but the more recommended way is to disable the hot plug capability of Image Capture.

Open up Terminal, and enter the following line:

defaults -currentHost write com.apple.ImageCapture disableHotPlug -bool YES

Then press Enter.

Note: no application will be launched when you mount a camera card once hot plug is disabled.  If PM is already open when you mount a camera card and you have configured PM to open Ingest on mount of a camera card then the Ingest dialog will be displayed.

Great! I'll try that. If I could just delete the Photo app I would, but I don't see any way of doing that. I'll cut & paste the line you suggested into Terminal and see if that works.

Not as good as PM launching and opening a contact sheet, but better than having that Photo app pop up!

Any chance Apple will change how their Image Capture works?

I have no idea.  It's up to them to make it work right again.  Please do complain to Apple about the issue.
