Slow Ingest
« on: May 27, 2018, 03:33:33 AM »
Photo mechanic has recently slowed to a crawl while ingesting raws and also extracting jpegs. I have plenty of hard drive space and I am running High Sierra with the latest Photo Mechanic V5.

I hope you can please help?

If you copy the files using the Finder, is the copy speed still slow?

Thanks Kirk

I just tested and PM transfers 12GB in 7m37s while finder takes 5m32s. What I don't understand is that in both cases the transfers starts off at a rapid pace of around 4 images per second, then at the half way point slows way down to around 1 image every 1 or 2 seconds.

I'm using the internal and reader and have plenty of drive space. Does any of this make any sense?

Thanks

Not really, though High Sierra has been one of Apple's most bug-ridden macOS releases.  So I wouldn't be surprised if this were another problem with the new OS.  The new APFS file system has had some heinous bugs in it, for instance.
