A few pieces of admittedly unasked for advice from a software developer and photographer

(1) You can release features over time and you don't need to wait to be feature complete. While you don't want to release simply because of an arbitrary date, we'd love to a timeline. I love your software, I'd love it to continue to get better and I look forward to your latest mind meld with your private beta contributors.
(2) Limited betas are only moderately useful, believe it or not. After the final functionality from your recent private beta is nailed down, get it into as many hands, camera and hardware configurations as possible as that will help with the quality of your release.
(3) Figure out a way to honor your Black Friday purchase statements, if you haven't. (Done!)
(4) Figure out a date, publish it and stick to it. I get that you genuinely want to release the best software possible. Great!  But it definitely feels like 6 years since your last major release ????.

We all want you to make this the best release yet!

Thanks for listening,
Ray

Graham,

Yes, buying an upgrade to PM5 via the Black Friday sale is the cheapest way to get PM6.

Presumably you will continue to honour this for those who bought a licence in the Black Friday sale, irrespective of the delayed release date.

Upgrade licenses are good for a year after purchase.  We will set PM6's "birth date" no matter when it is released to a date that will allow those purchases to gain the PM6 upgrade.

but there?s no reason to treat customers in a second class way, which to be honest is how this feels.

If this was the impression I gave by asking the question about the licence upgrade, it was not my intention at all.  PM/Kirk is very responsive to questions and input, from the unusual and esoteric, to patiently dealing with those to which RTFM might be an equally justified retort.

I have high hopes for PM6.  If getting it right takes a little longer, I will go with that without feeling offended - although I hope that the need to adjust to allow for a year after this year's Black Friday will not be necessary!  :)

Nothing you said gave that impression, simply my own frustration coming through, for which I apologize. This is awesome software. I want it to be more awesome. And I'd like it yesterday  :). I've seen Kirk and team respond nicely and patiently to all kinds of queries. The support is second to none. I'm good with spending the time to get it right, too, don't get me wrong. Simply frustrated though, but perhaps I am the only one.  :)

Dear Kirk,

I didn?t get ist right ! That means no Beta PM6 in 2018 ?? Final release some day in 2019 ??
There is a strong similarity between the opening of the new Willy Brandt Airport in Berlin and PM6 :-)

Please give us a Beta for Christmas ;-)

All the best for you and the team

Dirk

Hey all,

Regarding my statement of a release by the end of the year even if it kills us: We are making good progress and our development velocity is good.  We did a private beta test with a small group in October, and the feedback was amazing. The group not only validated the new offering but also offered insight into some additional functionality that in review, we agreed would further benefit the product offering and increase its value. All that to say, PM6 is still in the works and it's going to be a fantastic tool. We will be releasing it in 2019 and promise it will redefine asset organization in ways that you all would expect from us but didn't imagine. Stay tuned, we're alive and driving, stronger than ever.

-Kirk

Thanks for the update. Just for clarity, can we expect a public beta in 2018?

No.  No public beta in 2018.

Hello Kirk, you still there? Or did the missing release of pm6 kill you?  ::)
On the serious side, what happens when the next Update to MacOs arrives?
I have retired and do not need a catalog option.
But will my PM 5 still work? Probably not, but what do I then do?

Best
Steffen

Did not kill me, but I am recovering from pneumonia at this time.

The next major macOS release will very likely kill off PM5.

You would upgrade to PM6.

Hi Kirk,

I hope you are fully recovered and at good health. Anything new about the birth of PM6?
Greetings from Germany,
Robert

Hope is not the conviction that something wil turn out well,
but the cercainty, that someting makes sense, regardless of how it turns out.
