Photo Mechanic freezing in macbook pro 2018
« on: December 31, 2018, 06:20:01 PM »
I never had a problem with PM. All was always lighting fast.
Few days ago I bought a new macbook (I am a Mac user), an Intel I7 with 16gb of ram.
PM on this macbook is really slow when I scroll the pics, never happened before.
It often freezes while I am reviewing the photos.

Can you help me?

I'd like to see your Photo Mechanic log.  In Photo Mechanic go to the Help menu and choose "Reveal Support Data..." and moments later a Finder window will come forward with the zipped log file selected.  Use the 'Attachments and other options' link when you're composing your reply to this message and there you'll be able to upload your zipped PM log file.

Thanks,

-Kirk

Thank you for the log.

I see a number of network related errors in your log.  It looks like your DNS isn't setup correctly (192.168.1.1 is a local IP address and is not going to be a domain name server).

Does the slow down only occur when you're uploading?  I see uploads to Flickr, SmugMug and FTP are failing.

Where are the images that you're browsing stored?  I see a "Google Drive" folder referenced.  Is that a local folder or are the images stored remotely?

Images I browse are in my compact flash. I also tried to copy the whole card to the hd but the result was the same.
I noticed a thing: freezing occours when I use iMovie. Even if I quit it before I use PM.

Could this is the problem?

I suppose that it's possible.  If you restart your computer and use PM without having started iMovie then PM works fine?

I'll do some tests. Today I did not use iMovie and everything was nice and smooth as usual

I did some tests. If use my macbook without iMovie everything is fine as always.

If I launch iMovie before using PM (even if I quit it), PM freezes

Do the contact sheets you're browsing contain videos?  If you browse folders that do not contain videos, does the freezing still occur (after having run iMovie)?

Yes it does

Assuming that you've answered yes to my second question, this is interesting.  We'll see if we can reproduce the problem on our end.

Thanks,

-Kirk
