I was previously using a large screen 10-bit deep color 4K TV for my monitor, 2013 Mac Pro, using a TB2 to HDMI 2.0 converter at 30 Hz. Let's call this "original TV"
Yesterday I upgraded to a 10-bit 4K monitor, which has a regular display port plugin in the back. So I'm using it with the usual mini displayPort to regular displayPort cable, which is supporting 10-bit deep color 4K at 60 Hz. Let's call this "new monitor."
PM5 with original TV: several months ago, the display latency between previewing two images using the right/left arrow keys was about 1/10th to 1/4th of a second. Almost unnoticeable delay.
PM6 with original TV: latency increased to 1/3rd to 1/2 of a second between images. At first this was unusable, and I kept rating the wrong images since the display and PM's "brain" were out of sync. However, I've adjusted and it's not an issue anymore. 64-bit support is worth the lower speed.
Now, here's the problem:
PM6 with new monitor: latency is now 1-2 seconds between images, usually about 1.5 seconds. It's like molasses.
The only difference between the original TV and the new monitor is that the new monitor is using display port at 60 Hz rather than HDMI 2.0 at 30 Hz. Color depth and resolution are both identical.
I would expect that the faster display port cable and refresh rate would only make the display latency faster.
Why is PM6 suddenly slower, and not just by a little, but by a lot?? I have about 8,000 photos to cull today, so if there is a simple solution, I would love to hear it. Thank you.
