Live Ingest
« on: April 22, 2025, 10:18:41 AM »
Hi Guys,

I use Live ingest to send images from my camera on to my windows laptop. To do so I use a mifi device and the FTP server that is built into Windows laptops.

It has been working fine with my Canon R3 cameras but I have recently added an R1 and R5 Mark II and all of a sudden its much slower (I get the file size thing) but equally Live often has to be stopped and restarted.

Any thing I can try as restarting in a live setting is time consuming.

Regards

Nigel

What part is slower? The transferring of images from your camera? The time it takes to move the image from the Live Ingest source to the destination?

How much slower? Is it proportional to the size increase in the images? Did the speed change coincide with the use of your new cameras?

What problem is solved by stopping and restarting it?

Both the time from the camera and the importing them into PM via Live ingest is slower.

The first I can account for as I am using a Canon R5 Mark II as one camera and the files sizes are larger so I expected that. The R1 I am using is maybe slightly bigger than the R3 but they did and still do fly into PM via Live inject, so clearly something has made the difference.

The biggest issue however is the fact that to get those new images in now, if left idle, it means I have to stop and restart Live ingest.

Right, you mentioned this previously, but I still do not know what problem is solved by doing this. Is the problem that Live Ingest stops transferring images? The files are just sitting in the Live Ingest source folder while a Live Ingest is running?

What does being "left idle" mean in this context? Is the computer going to sleep? Are images not being transferred to the computer for a certain period of time?
