Hidden/System Files and Ingest
« on: July 23, 2007, 05:20:22 PM »
The recent thread regarding hidden/system directories and files (http://forums.camerabits.com/index.php?topic=1902.0) brought up another related question: Does Photo Mechanic ignore hidden and/or system files during an ingest process?

Yes, it ignores hidden and system files, unless they are known file types (like JPEG, TIF, CRW, NEF, etc.)

Would I be correct in assuming the "known file types" are the same that can be set for "assign specific editing applications for each file type"?

If so, that would seem to indicate that .ICO files, if hidden, would be skipped during an ingest. This would be a possible solution to a problem I'm having with files such as autorun.inf and image.ico in the root of a CF card which are getting imported. (i.e. item #4 in this post: http://forums.camerabits.com/index.php?topic=1718.msg8232#msg8232)

Yes,  it would only apply to the specific file types that PM is capable of dealing with.

PM also brings WAV files (and allows you access ever so nicely to them afterwards). 10 out of 10 on that one!
