problems with tagging and arrangements using capture time

I am running Photo Mechanic version 4.6.2.1 and I run Mac OS X 10.5.8 on my Intel-based IMac.
I Used Photo Mechanic version 4.6.2.1 to first view and tag and rate images with no issues. I then updated my version to 4.6.3 and I found that i was having arrangement problems once i rated or tagged an image (the program would place the rated image at the end of the list of files). I reverted back to Photo Mechanic version 4.6.2.1 and it helped to solve some of my arrangement problems but now i can not tag images. When i try to check the tag box it does not respond. i can not tag or untag images currently.  any suggestions besides going back to 4.6.3 and hoping that my arrangements do not go random again?

I am unable to reproduce this issue on version 4.6.4 (beta).  How does one cause this problem to occur?

The steps I took were to change the sort to Arrangement.  Moved a photo from the top left position to the next position to the right.  Then I tagged, rated, and set the color class.  No movement occurred.  Am I doing that right?
