Lenstype info in a jpeg
« on: July 18, 2012, 02:13:38 PM »
Hello Kirk @PhotoMechanic,

I've been reading about the lenstype issue in jpeg being not recognized by PM. I just realized that the jpeg in my "out folder" (jpeg ready to be sent to the paper) hold the lenstype info when opened in Photoshop CS5.

In that sense I'm questioning the answer that was written in previous post in 2010 about Canon including that information (Maker Note) in their proprietary editor.

If the workaround is to use a unused IPTC field, please let me know how code replacement could be used, I'm not sure about the procedure.

Best regards,

Kirk,

I've found a way to trick the lens type into another iptc field. But I'm still wondering how come PS5 can read lens type info in a jpeg while PM can't ?

Best regards,
