Hilmar,

There were two questions:

What happens if you "Let the Finder" open files?
Does drag and drop from PM open images in your new Photoshop?

So drag and drop does not work either?

I can drag and drop to Photoshop, no problem there.

Only if I try to do it from the menu "Image / Edit photos" - no idea why it does not work. It actually blinks in the menu, but does not open the files.

Hi,
The conclusion I gather from the thread is that it is not advisable yet to upgrade to Yosemite due to many compatibility problems people have been facing.

I installed PhotoMechanic5R16231.dmg and it solved my Yosemite compatibility issue but now I have noticed a new bit of weirdness. When I have a PM contact sheet open and deselect the non-color coded image I get a series of bouncing PM icons on the dock. It reminds me of when Final Cut Pro X updates. Here is a screen shot of the bouncing icons.

That's very strange.  Can anyone else reproduce this?

Thanks,

Kirk,

I finally had some time to install this newest build and it works like a charm! Haven't encountered any errors or glitches so far.

Thank you so much for the update, it makes my work a lot easier now! No wonder why PM is becoming de facto with photog's.

Update it seems to happen as thumbnails load. It is especially noticeable when there are video files on a card.

Those other bouncing icons are the sub-apps that PM uses to render video files.  This is not a new issue due to this updated release.

OK. After a little testing it does seem to be isolated to video files. Interesting. I don't remember this happening in the past but since it doesn't hinder my editing I'll just ride the wave. I am just glad it wasn't something wonky in my system. Thanks.

Kirk

I was one of the folks having issues on a Mac Mini running Yosemite. I gave up re formated and went back to Mavericks and all was good. Well I just upgraded to a new iMac 27 i7 3.4 with Yosemite and the problems returned which was it freezing up after being idle. I have 3 usb drives that I run . So I tried just running the iMac , no externals,  and had no issues. So I unchecked in Sys Prefs ' Put Drives to Sleep when possible" and no more lock ups. Its been 2 days PM being open and it has not locked up. I'll try the link you just put up , see what happens

Jack,

The build 16259 addresses all known stability issues with Yosemite in Photo Mechanic 5.  It is not a final public release but it is very close to the build that we'll release to our update system soon.

Should you upgrade to Yosemite if you're using Mavericks?  I don't suggest that anyone upgrade to an OS unless the following are true:

1) The OS has had several updates
2) The OS provides features that you need to get your work done.

That's my criteria.  I used Mac OS X 10.6.8 for several years and only recently upgraded to 10.9.5.
