Searching for keywords on a server

Hi there,
I have been using PM for many years but I don't take advantage of its Search function.
Today I thought I would give it a go.
It seems PM will search images on my local computer fine but most of my images reside on a QNAP RAID based server. It doesn't seem to be able to search on any of the images on that QNAP server. Is that normal or am I doing something incorrectly? Do you have a workflow document that I can read about keywords and searching best practice?

I am running PM Version 5.0 Build 16438 [e61be25] on a Mac OS X [10.7.5] connect to the QNAP via ethernet cable to a HP Switch

This is expected.  The Search function in PM uses Apple's Spotlight technology which does not, by default, index non-local disks.  I have read that it is possible to get networked disks to be indexed by Spotlight, but your results may vary:

I have successfully turned on indexing on the QNAP server...I will let you know how searching goes..

It does not work... and I'm really confused now because here we lose all benefit of PM...

Any other way to do?

If Spotlight won't find images on your non-local disks, then neither will PM.  I have no workaround that will provide similar functionality at this time.
